I was eating lots of organic grapefruits, oranges, and lemon water, so figured I’d try the homemade citrus enzyme cleaner.
Enzyme Citrus cleanser is supposedly good for many things including: cleaning things, insect repellent for self and garden, fertilizer, and hair conditioner. Here is where I got the idea. Check it out for more uses. http://tinyurl.com/zdf967p
I just put citrus scraps and water in the plastic juice container and let it sit on the counter for 3 months. The recipe said to shake everyday and keep the lid loose so gases can escape and the bottle doesn’t explode when opening. I never shook mine and it did not bubble. About 2 months into the project I realized I was supposed to include sugar, so I added about a tablespoon.
After 3 months, I used it to clean the bathtub and surrounding tile, and kitchen cupboards. It worked! I bet it would work even better if I used more sugar and maybe even some yeast.
A shortcut is to add 1 tsp. of yeast and let it sit (shaking everyday) for 2 weeks, then it’s ready to use.
