Prepare, Sustain, Thrive and Survive Simply
Enclaves of people around the world are evolving out of the crumbling society to create new culture connected with earth and spirit. This movement is experimenting with skills for locally self-reliant living. The focus is on permaculture land management systems centered around small groups of dwellings like this one at Being Somewhere. This is the only proactive response I can see happening. Everybody else is endlessly complaining about what’s wrong.
There is significant and growing excitement among the alternative grass-roots to implement these low impact developments. This enthusiasm springs from similar conclusions by observing people, that it’s time to downsize and live in harmony with nature.
There are two major obstacles: the cost of land ownership, and push back from mainstream planning entities who are enforcing the old paradigm.
The new pioneers often spend their lives volunteering, learning, growing gardens, etc. The small income from these lifestyles is not commensurate with land ownership or costly campaigns to change the thinking of planners. Even forming groups to co-purchase land is frowned upon by the system.
A new means of funding has to be established to get these seed projects sprouting quickly all over the globe. The funds will be donations from people and groups who want to put their money to work restoring the land. The money will be distributed through grants for the purchase of land and to fight for eco-development free zones. A portion of the fund will be distributed through a usury-free revolving loan fund,to seed micro-enterprises run from the eco-developments.
